El Toro roller coaster at Six Flags closed indefinitely after discovery of structural damage

The El Toro roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey will be closed indefinitely in the wake of an Aug. 25 malfunction that injured 14 people, including five who were hospitalized. The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs determined that multiple wooden track support columns are structurally compromised. The roller coaster opened in 2006 and is popular for its 176-foot drop and speeds up to 70 mph.
