Enrollment in New Jersey's public schools dropped by 18,000 students since start of COVID-19 pandemic

The number of students enrolled in New Jersey public schools declined by more than 18,000 between October 2019 and October 2021, the largest decrease in recent memory. Experts say that restrictions implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic and declining birth rates could be some of the potential causes.
