Former Liberian rebel general allegedly settled in South Jersey by lying on immigration documents

Laye Sekou Camara, 43, of Mays Landing, has been arrested and charged with using an immigration document obtained through fraud. Authorities allege he lied about his past as a general in the Liberians United for Reconciliation and Democracy, a rebel group which committed war crimes during the nation’s second civil war between 1999 and 2003. Camara first arrived in the U.S. in 2011.
