Funeral for fallen Philly police officer Richard Mendez to be held Tuesday

The funeral for Philadelphia police officer Richard Mendez, who was fatally shot on duty, will be held Tuesday, Oct. 12 at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Center City. Words of remembrance will begin at 11:30 a.m. and followed by a Mass at noon. A public viewing is slated for Monday, Oct. 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the John F. Givnish Funeral Home in Northeast Philly. Another viewing will be held at the basilica on Tuesday morning.
