N.J. parents, guardians must be notified if child is caught with marijuana or alcohol under new law

Law enforcement officials in New Jersey are now mandated to notify parents of children who are caught buying or possessing marijuana and alcohol for the first time, according to legislation signed into law Friday by Gov. Phil Murphy. Previous law required notification only be provided to legal guardians of those under the age of 18 who had committed multiple offenses.
