New Jersey issues state of emergency over baby formula shortage to prevent price gouging

New Jersey has declared a state of emergency over the nationwide baby formula shortage. The executive order was signed by Gov. Phil Murphy on Tuesday. It activated the state’s price gouging laws. Now, retailers are prohibited from charging more than a 10% markup on formula and excessive price increases are illegal. New Jersey was hit particularly hard by the shortage. Many parents have turned to social media to find food for their babies.
