New Jersey to stop arresting people for low-level bench warrants

Police officers in New Jersey will no longer arrest people for low-level bench warrants in most cases. They’re given to people who neglect to pay for traffic tickets and similar offenses. Acting Attorney General Matt Platkin made the announcement last week. In addition to keeping people out of jail, it will save the state’s law enforcement officers the time and effort associated with taking people into custody.
