New Jersey's refrigerated lockers could help deliver groceries to residents in food deserts

Grocery store owners in New Jersey can soon apply for the FRIDG grant program, which assists in purchasing and installing refrigerated food lockers for grocery delivery to 50 food desert communities across the state. Each $250,000 grant will be awarded to grocers with at least one physical location near the food desert communities. All grocery stores must be authorized to accept Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program payments for grocery delivery in order to qualify.
