Pennsylvania expands eligibility of qualified substitute teachers to address staffing shortages

Gov. Tom Wolf has signed into law a measure that will expand the pool of eligible substitute teachers in Pennsylvania. The initiative will allow for more former, current and future educators to immediately qualify as substitute teachers in public schools across the state. The effort comes as school districts statewide grapple with staffing shortages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
