Philly art museum workers resume strike in effort to secure better wages, benefits in first union contract

Unionized workers at the Philadelphia Museum of Art again went on strike Monday, Sept. 26, in an effort to secure better wages, health care benefits and job security in their first contract with the cultural institution. AFSCME Local 397 previously held a one-day ‘warning’ strike on Sept. 16 over unfair labor practices and alleged union-busting tactics. They filed eight unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board in August, which union members said have not been remedied.
