Phoenixville man finds rare purple pearl in clam at Rehoboth Beach restaurant

Scott Overland, a Phoenixville man vacationing with his family in Rehoboth Beach, found a rare purple pearl in a clam appetizer at Salt Air Kitchen & Bar. The upscale restaurant at the Delaware shore destination said the pearl came from a Quahog clam, which produces natural, non-nacreous pearls that can be highly valuable due to their rarity. Overland and his wife plan to have the pearl appraised.
