Proposed public safety director would oversee Philly's gun violence response



Philadelphia lawmakers want to create the Office of the Public Safety Director, a cabinet-level position that would oversee public safety in the city, including its gun violence response. To do so, city voters must approve a ballot referendum. The position is modeled after those in Chicago, Illinois; Columbus, Ohio; and Newark, New Jersey.
