Southwest Airlines cancels more flights out of Philly airport as holiday travel woes continue

Southwest Airlines has canceled nearly 11,000 flights in the United States since Thursday, including dozens out of Philadelphia International Airport. The airline is facing scrutiny from lawmakers and federal regulators as it scrambles to address the wave of cancelations, including rebooking flights and providing refunds. Southwest has attributed its problems to the winter storms that hit much of the nation over the Christmas holiday, but industry analysts say it’s also a consequence of the carrier’s operational model.
