'Horrified' airline vows to stop shipping lab monkeys, like those involved in Pennsylvania truck crash

Kenya Airways will soon stop transporting wild animals, include lab monkeys for experimental research, after a truck accident in Pennsylvania last week resulted in a safety hazard during the shipment of 100 long-tailed macaques. Several of the monkeys escaped near Danville and we later euthanized before the rest were taken to a quarantine site. The monkeys are commonly used for infectious disease research and demand for them has spiked during the coronavirus pandemic to aid vaccine development.
