Inmate escapes from Northeast Philly prison



A man incarcerated at Riverside Correctional Facility escaped custody on Thursday afternoon, city officials announced. Gino Hagenkotter, 34, was completing an outside work assignment at the orchard of the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Facility at 8201 State Rd. when he fled. He was arrested for retail theft in 2017.

Driver sentenced up to 24 years in prison for fatal hit-and-run at Bucks County McDonald's



A New Jersey man who ran his truck over another man at a McDonald’s in Bucks County in February was sentenced to 12-24 years in prison on Wednesday. Daniel Dietrich, 46, of Palmyra, struck and killed 47-year-old Jason Smith, of Levittown, during a road-rage encounter in Bristol Township on Feb. 5. Dietrich pleaded guilty to charges of voluntary manslaughter and related offenses.

Wendy's manager pistol-whipped during botched robbery in Northeast Philly, police say



The manager of the Wendy’s at 901 Cottman Ave. in Northeast Philadelphia was pistol-whippped during an attempted robbery as the fast food restaurant was closing early Wednesday morning, police said. The man fled on foot after discovering that the cash registers were empty and that employees were unable to open the store’s safe.
