Philadelphia’s tap water will remain safe to drink and will not be affected by the chemical spill at a plant in Bucks County, officials said Tuesday night. Water Department officials concluded the risk of contamination has passed based on water sampling tests and river flow models. None of the contaminants association with the synthetic latex solution that entered the river ever appeared at detectable levels the city’s water sample tests.

Philadelphia’s tap water remains safe to drink until at least 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, city officials said. The city’s water supply from the Delaware River so far has not been contaminated from the chemical spill in Bucks County. The water will continue to be tested for several days to ensure that the water that enters the Baxter Water Treatment Plant is safe to consume.
