Rutgers professor who led development of COVID-19 saliva test dies at 51

Andrew Brooks, the Rutgers professor who pioneered the development of the first at-home, saliva-based COVID-19 test to receive emergency authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, died unexpectedly on Saturday Jan. 23. He was 51.
