Scott's oriole makes rare appearance in Pennsylvania



A rare Scott’s oriole has been spotted in Lancaster, Pennsylvania — attracting birders from across the region. The yellow-bodied bird with white striped wings is usually found in the southwestern United States and Mexico. The sighting in Pennsylvania is only the state’s second on record and the first in Lancaster County.

Upper Merion downgrades marijuana possession to a summary offense



Upper Merion Township reduced its penalties for possession of an ounce or less of marijuana, shifting from a misdemeanor offense to a summary offense that carries a $50 fine. It’s one of several towns in Montgomery County to make the change, including Norristown, West Norriton and Plymouth Township.
