Black bear's capture in Clifton Heights yard recorded on video

A black bear that was spotted roaming through parts of Delaware County on Tuesday was captured overnight and will be released into a less populated area. The Clifton Heights Fire Co. shared a video on Facebook showing the moments leading up to the bear’s capture in a yard along West Baltimore Pike. The animal had been hit with a. tranquilizer earlier in the day. Bear sightings have become much more common in Southeastern Pennsylvania in recent years.

Francis Decero, 25, was found dead in South Philly on May 3 near the 1700 block of Vare Avenue. Police reportedly are investigating whether Decero may have been targeted after recently winning a large sum of money in the Pennsylvania Lottery. The victim had been reported missing by his family on April 26.

Bucks County WWII vet's remains identified decades after fighting in U.S. Army's longest battle

The remains of a Bucks County man who fought in World War II have been identified by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, which is tasked with investigating and recovering missing U.S. military personnel. Army Pvt. Walter G. Wildman, 20, of Bristol, was killed in November 1944 action during the Hürtgen Forest offensive, one of the deadliest battles waged by the U.S. Army during World War II. Wildman’s remains will now be buried in Newtown Township.

Philadelphia fund manager sentenced to 9 years in prison for $100 million investment fraud

Brenda Smith, 61, of Philadelphia, has been sentenced to more than nine years in prison for defrauding roughly 40 investors out of $100 million through her firm Broad Reach Capital LP. She told customers she was investing their funds in unique trading strategies but instead used millions to pay out other investors, make a $10 million investment in a mineral mining operation and pay off $2 million in credit card bills.
