David's Bridal to lay off more than 9,000 employees in advance of looming sale

David’s Bridal, the Montgomery County, Pennsylvania-based chain, will lay off more than 9,000 workers in the U.S. ahead of a potential sale. The company emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2019, but was hard-hit by the public health restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic and changes in the wedding industry that have followed.
