Nearly one year after deadly Fairmount fire, U.S. to mandate better smoke alarms in public housing

The measure, introduced by Sen. Bob Casey and Rep. Madeleine Dean, was included in the $1.7 trillion government spending bill signed into law by President Joe Biden on Thursday.
