Pennsylvania schools have banned books more often than every state but Texas since last summer

Pennsylvania school districts banned books 456 times between July 2021 and March 2022, the second-highest total in the United States, according to Pen America. Most of Pennsylvania’s bans were implemented by Central York School District. Across the country, banned books often address racial issues or have LGBTQ themes.
