Philly votes to expand protections for abortion seekers, medical providers in wake of Supreme Court ruling

City Council approved a trio of bills on Thursday aimed at strengthening abortion rights and protecting abortion seekers and medical providers from legal scrutiny for procedures that are legal in Pennsylvania. The legislative package was introduced in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade earlier this year, making abortion legality a matter of state law.
