Police officer who fatally shot 12-year-old Thomas Siderio in South Philly to be fired



The police officer who shot and killed 12-year-old Thomas Siderio in South Philly last week will be fired, Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said Tuesday. The officer, identified as Edsaul Mendoza, and three other plainclothes officers were conducting surveillance near Barry’s Playground when a bullet struck their car, police said. Two officers got out and discharged their firearms, with one firing twice more as he pursued Siderio on foot.
