Red-tailed hawk rescued by Pa. wildlife experts has rare genetic condition

A red-tailed hawk with the rare genetic condition leucism was rescued near Mercersburg, Pennsylvania in March after it was found covered in cooking oil and unable to fly. Leucism affects pigmentation, resulting in lighter colors. This hawk stands out from typical red-tailed hawks that have brown and dark red feathers. The hawk was taken to the Raven Ridge Wildlife Center in Lancaster County, where she has been rehabilitated.
