Students at Penn's Wharton School think the average American earns more than $100,000, professor says

In 2020, the average annual wage in the United States was $53,383. The median annual wage that year was $34,612, according to the Social Security Administration. Though many American workers might understand these numbers — nearly 56% of workers earned less than $35,000 that year — a group of students at the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania would disagree.
