Statewide COVID-19 school mask mandate tossed by Pennsylvania Supreme Court



The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has vacated the state’s school mask requirement for schools, child-care programs and early-learning centers, effective immediately. The court’s decision comes after a heated legal battle, but does not prevent individuals school districts and schools for enforcing their own mask requirements.

Philly’s third-party food delivery services could soon have their fees capped at 15%



City Council passed a bill Thursday that would permanently cap food delivery service fees at 15% for restaurants, bars and other establishments across Philadelphia. Restaurants that wish to have higher fees in exchange for additional services beyond basic delivery and marketing would be permitted to opt out of the 15% cap. Third-party food delivery services that violate the law would face fines.

Outdoor dining setups to remain permanent in some areas of Philly with mayors approval



City Council unanimously passed legislation Thursday that will permanently allow for licensed outdoor dining spaces to continue operating in certain areas of Philadelphia. Streeteries and sidewalk cafés in neighborhoods like Center City and Old City will need to follow a number of design, placement and public safety guidelines in order to have their licenses renewed. Outdoor dining setups that are not located within one of the designated sections will need to receive approval from city officials through a special ordinance.
