New Jersey issues state of emergency over baby formula shortage to prevent price gouging



New Jersey has declared a state of emergency over the nationwide baby formula shortage. The executive order was signed by Gov. Phil Murphy on Tuesday. It activated the state’s price gouging laws. Now, retailers are prohibited from charging more than a 10% markup on formula and excessive price increases are illegal. New Jersey was hit particularly hard by the shortage. Many parents have turned to social media to find food for their babies.

Topgolf to open location in Northeast Philadelphia this week



Topgolf’s new 68,000-square-foot, three-story driving range with 102 tees at 2140 Byberry Rd. in Northeast Philadelphia will open on Friday at 9 a.m. It’s located on the site of the former Nabisco and Mondelez factory. The facility cost about $35 million to construct. It also has a restaurant and a bar. Topgolf is currently constructing another facility in King of Prussia.

Gunman in Buffalo supermarket massacre mentioned three New Jersey towns in manifesto



Payton Gendron, the 18-year-old man charged in Saturday afternoon’s deadly shooting in Buffalo, allegedly wrote about his racial motivations for the attack in a manifesto that he shared online before the incident. Ten people were killed at the Buffalo market, all African-American, and three others were wounded. The document Gendron shared contained anti-Semitic references to three New Jersey communities — Lakewood, Toms River and Jersey City — with growing populations of Orthodox Jews.
