Wildfire burns at Wharton State Forest in South Jersey, leading to evacuations



A wildfire at Wharton State Forest in South Jersey has burned at least 2,100 acres of pinelands in New Jersey’s largest state park. As of Sunday night, the fire was only 20 percent contained and was affecting portions of Washington Township, Shamong, Hammonton and Mullica, the NJ Forest Fire Service said.

Investigation continues into building collapse that killed a firefighter in Fairhill



Lt. Sean Williamson, a 27-year veteran of the Philadelphia Fire Department, was killed after a fire and building collapse in Fairhill on Saturday morning. Four other firefighters and a worker from the Department of Licenses and Inspections were also injured. An investigation in underway from the Philadelphia Police Department, ATF, and Fire Marshals.

Wolf pushes $2,000 checks for some Pennsylvanians amid rising inflation



Gov. Tom Wolf is pushing for $2,000 checks to be sent to Pennsylvania households making less than $80,000 per year with some of the state’s remaining American Rescue Plan funds. The goal is to help families struggling with the fallout pf the pandemic and the inflation crisis. Prices in metro Philadelphia are up at least 8.4% from last year, which has left many households struggling to make ends meet. But state Republicans are not fans of Wolf’s plan.
