Pennsylvania bill would ban transgender athletes from playing women's sports, but Gov. Wolf vows to veto it



The “Fairness in Women’s Sports Act” would prevent transgender women and girls from joining female sports teams at Pennsylvania public schools and colleges. The legislation passed out of the House Education Committee, but Gov. Tom Wolf has vowed to veto it. The vote came after Penn swimmer Lia Thomas became the first transgender athlete to win a Division I national championship.

Man charged with homicide in alleged DUI crash that killed three-year-old in Brewerytown



Timothy Robinson, 62, is charged with homicide by vehicle and related offenses in the death of a three-year-old child who was struck in a March 28 crash near the intersection of 30th Street and West Girard Avenue. Investigators say Robinson was driving under the influence of an unnamed substance. The child was pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital. The child’s mother, who was also at the scene, managed to escaped without serious injury.

15-year-old Wissinoming boy, shot while getting water out of father's car, dies from injuries



Philadelphia police are investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of 15-year-old Sean Toomey, who was struck by gunfire outside his family’s home in the Wissinoming section of the city on March 24. The incident happened shortly after two men unsuccessfully attempted to break in to the car of a neighbor. Toomey, who was outside getting water from his father’s car, was struck in the head by a bullet and died the following day. Authorities are investigating whether the two incidents were linked and whether Toomey was targeted.

Video shows fiery scene of multi-car crash during snow squall on I-81 in Pennsylvania



A snow squall in Pennsylvania on Monday led to a multi-car crash involving up to 60 vehicles on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County. A video from the scene of the crash shows as cars collide with other vehicles and a tractor-trailer catches fire on the highway. The crash led to closures of I-81 North while emergency crews and firefighters worked to get the situation under control.
